We were dialoguing a couple of days ago about the line of electric/hybrid cars from BMW and specifically the i3 and the i8 which were revealed to the U.S. at a showing in New York City, all of it part of the world tour for the two cars.
The electric hybrid I8 especially caught the eyes of many with its fierce body style and the top end performance of the 356 hp engine which is reportedly able to attack the road at 0-60 in as fast as 4.5 seconds. The other marvel of this car is the carbon aluminum construction which so pleased with are BMW developers that they plan to use the same technology when creating what is to be called the M8 Supercar which is slated to be produced in 2016.
According to motorward.com this new sports car is to be the successor to the BMW M1. Cost savings in production of this new M8 will be due to the lightweight materials used, and it will not have a hybrid/electric element. Latest reports is that it will house a 600 hp V8 engine tuned to rip the road to shreds.
