Naperville Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry Stocks Up for the Holidays
Bill Jacob BMW is thrilled to put a spotlight on excellent charity events going on in the community. It is comforting to know there are individuals who dedicate their lives to providing food for those who cannot afford it. The Giving Gardens of Illinois are one of those initiatives done by kind-hearted Americans who recognize the value of giving back.
The organizers of the charity initiative recently announced that they will be stocking up the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry in Naperville that serves the less fortunate citizens of the community. The produce from Giving Gardens scattered across the state of Illinois will fill these partially empty pantries. At the start of the charity campaign, the master gardeners at these agricultural plots were asked to donate a variety of produce including sweet peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes.
The University of Illinois is also a major sponsor of this charity project as it oversees three different giving gardens in the DuPage County. The production numbers from these gardens are rapidly increasing as the rains persist. These University-owned gardens supply most of the food pantries in the state and the supervisors of these pantries are satisfied because they are fully-stocked with fresh produce.
The Loaves and Fishes Community plot supervised by Fritz Porter has seen a major increase in the amount of produce being donated to the pantry. Porter said that 592 pounds of produce have been harvested already but the team expects to collect another 60 pounds. Now this is the heart of a truly giving community. Even more impressive is the fact that giving gardens are slowly becoming more frequent throughout the state of Illinois.
Bill Jacobs BMW is proud of the selfless efforts being done by the Loaves & Fishes community. Stop into our dealership and see what we have to offer you!
