Isaac Paying a Visit
Our brethren on the Gulf Coast are focused on Hurricane Isaac which, upon the writing of this post, is on the verge of being a category 1 storm.
Caution on the roads will be the priority through this coming week. The people of the deep south will be contending not only with the rain but huge amounts of gusty wind. It is a way of life in those parts, they will persevere.

And to assure both hands are on the steering wheel, take a look at this technology: Hands free, rain activated windshield wipers.

It’s interesting how the rain sensing technology works. After some attempts by auto makers to devise and create ideas to slow the need for the driver to manually turn on wipers there is a company that devised a technology which fits the bill.
There is a sensor near the rear view mirror of the automobile and its job is to send out and keep track of an infrared light into the windshield. When the glass of that windshield is dry the signal from the infrared light is even and constant. When rain, or water of some kind, hits the window that same light becomes fractured which trips the sensor to begin the windshield wipers.

There will be many in parts of Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, who could use and will probably be using this technology in the coming days.
During Isaac’s visit I am sure you will agree 10 and 2 is the only place your hands should be located.
