History of the BMW 7-Series
In a new video, BMW takes its fans on a historical journey to the late 1970’s when its automakers created the first 7-series, to take a look at the progress of the model before the expected release of the all new 7-series in 2016.
This top class vehicle of the 70’s was known for its remarkable driving experience, performance, efficiency and incredible fuel economy. Powered by a six cylinder engine with 249 horsepower, this vehicle sounded like a space ship on land.
BMW held off on revamping the design of the first 7-series as customers seemed to be content with its standardized look. BMW dubbed the repetitive design strategy, the ‘Eine Wurst, drei Grosse,’ which translates to: “One sausage, three sizes.” For years, BMW automakers have been guided by the desires of their customers, which is a factor in their successful sales revenue increase from the 1970’s.
The release of the video comes at a peak moment as eager fans await the debut of the all new BMW 7-Series. BMW officials have confirmed that the next 7-Series will be the first regular model after the i3 hatchback and i8 hybrid sports coupe to utilize carbon fiber along with aluminum and steel in its construction, which will help make the large sedan lighter than the current model, while improving performance, and fuel economy.
It is clear that BMW automakers have not lost sight of their vision as it redefines the performance, design and features of the 7-Series in the new model.
