BMW’s focused on Running Clean
For a significant amount of time there has been much discussion concerning the welfare of our planet, its rising temperatures (July 2012 was the warmest on record) the condition of our outer stratosphere, and the drastic change of weather patterns. There are no steadfast conclusions to this topic other than we need to be aware and adjust as we continue to inhabit Earth. Our metro areas and cities take the brunt of emissions of carbon dioxide due to their mere population and the stop and go nature of city driving. New studies show that a bulk of these emissions occur when drivers are seeking out street or meter parking.
BMW has walked directly towards a viable solution to this ongoing topic and produced the ActiveE series which are BMW’s, first introduced in 2010, that are 100% electric and have a run time equivalent to a gas engine getting 100 miles to the gallon or, in this case, on a “full tank”. Manufacturing of these automobiles began in 2011.
BMW has also gone a step further, which addresses the metro areas specifically, and in San Francisco, have created a program through what is called the DriveNow program. WIth a fleet of 70 ActiveE cars this program has made available automobiles for rent so that S.F.’s citizens, on an hourly basis, are able to take advantage of this new innovation. Need to get around in the city, an outlet (no pun intended) has been created, and continues to be perfected, for clean burning automobiles. The BMW ActiveE Series.
