So what does the future hold for the fleet at Bill Jacobs? In a word: horsepower.
At the Chicago Auto Show this week, representatives from BMW revealed the big news for 2017 is the all-new 2017 BMW Alpina B7 xDrive. According to Yahoo News, the muscle-bound sedan will offer up to 600 horsepower, an improvement on the current B7 model’s still-impressive 540 horsepower, while the transmission with feature an eight-speed automatic, enhanced with Alpina’s shifting programs. The engine is the latest shot across the bow of other luxury performance manufacturers, building off the twin-turbo-charged 4.4-liter V-8 from the 750i, according to the same Yahoo News piece, “but instead of a stock 445 horsepower the Alpina engineers managed to dial things up to 600 hp.”
Engineers have managed to increase torque to 590 lb-ft, according to Wesley Wren at Auto Week, who also adds “The changes to the powertrain allow this Bimmer to rocket from 0-60 in 3.6 seconds and on to a 193 mph top speed.”
The new model, built in cooperation with the long-time BMW parts manufacturer Alpina, is set to go on sale in September 2016 as a 2017 model. Visit Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville to find out more about this incredible sedan, as well as the rest of the BMW line.
