The BMW Group came out as big winners at the Automotive Brand Contest recently. The German Design Council bestowed 19 awards on the BMW Group and they also won 16 more times in the international design competition. For the Exterior Premium Brand category, the winners were the BMW Z4, BMW m6 Gran Coupe, the MINI Paceman and the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo. The Gran Turismo also won the Interior Premium Brand Category.
Other winners at the event by BMW Group projects in the architecture category included the brand presentation at BMW Welt of MINI and MINI John Cooper Works, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and BMW Motorrad with the Biker’s Lodge, the overhaul and redesign of the BMW Brand Store in Paris, and the concept and design of the BMW Brand Experience Centre in Shanghai. With regards to the Campaign category, the judges gave awards to the universally cohesive campaign “Designed for Driving Pleasure”, the BMW 7 Series commercial “Sovereignty” and the online commercial “MINI NEXT FAMILY” for the MINI Next premium used car scheme. In the corporate publishing category, The BMW magazine and the business customer magazine “BMW Business Class” came out as victors.
The judges and jury were especially captivated by the brand showcasing at BMW Welt of BMW / BMW M / BMW Individual / BMW i, which netted the “best of best” honor, as well as by the commercials in the BMW 1 Series campaign for the Driving Experience Control switch, which produced a distinct discussion.
The Automotive Brand Contest 2013 was hosted and created by the German Design Council, a world-class foundation that creates the competence centers for communications and knowledge transfer in the field of design. The Automotive Brand Contest was first held in 2011. This event is unique as it is the only non-partial, international design contest for automotive brands. It has proven itself as a key event for the industry. The formal awards ceremony will be held on September 10th, 2013, as part of the Automotive Designers’ Night.
