BMW Stylist Turning Heads with New Designs
The look and feel of a BMW is second to none. Chris Bangle, an American automobile designer, is well known for his work as Chief of Design for BMW Group, where he was responsible for the iconic modern design of the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce motor cars. While Bangle is no longer with BMW and the designs have changed, the BMW look is still making a huge impact on the industry.
Taking the reins from Bangle is German Designer, Karim Habib, head of design for BMW Brand. Habib is second in command to Adrian Van Hooydonk, head of design for BMW Group. Habib is leading the charge in defining the look and feel of all the recent new vehicles.
Habib praises BMW design with its precision, emotion and authenticity. Remarkably, Habib admits that keeping authenticity will be a test for BMW going forward, given the explosion of new models coming into the marketplace. Just recently, the X4 crossover/ sports activity coupe was previewed in the community. Its design is certainly making waves!
Habib is well versed in this arena. He designed several important BMW models over the past few years, including the striking Concept CS from 2007, which he worked on under the guidance of Bangle. It’s clear to see that aspects from Concept CS are evident in BMW’s latest designs, such as the upcoming 4-Series range and X4 crossover, and it’s exciting to see those changes coming into the marketplace.
