BMW M6 Gran Coupe by BMW Individual Coming
The BMW 6-Series is a unique creature in the BMW model lineup. Originally designed as an elegant, grand-touring coupe, the 6-Series was the type of car not necessarily designed for the racetrack, but for evening dinners at the yacht club.
Like BMW has been doing in recent years, the 6-Series was quickly turned into an ever expanding and powerful lineup.
The BMW 6-Series is built upon the 5-Series platform and chassis. Like the 5-Series, the 6-Series quickly received a performance M version. In 2013, BMW released a 4 door coupe version entitled the Gran Coupe.. This version of the 6-Series allowed the car to keep its sleek, elegant design that comes with being a coupe while adding more functionality and usability out of the luxurious rear seat.
Now, the M6 Gran Coupe, the crème of the 6-Series crop, is getting refinements from the BMW Individual program. This allows the German marque to outfit the M6 Gran Coupe to differentiate it from the more plebian M6 Gran Coupes currently on sale.
Released last month was a design exercise, put together by BMW Individual, to show potential customers the large and varying array of options available through their program. BMW designed a M6 Gran Coupe with impressive Frozen Red paint with darkened chrome elements throughout the interior. It is also riding on a set of new, sports alloy wheels.
Exterior styling aside, the interior is where the BMW individual program really excels. The M6 Gran Coupe built by BMW features Opal White Merino leather seats complete with a black leather dashboard and contrasting, striking Sakhir Orange stitching. The dash is filled with red accents that are present alongside the more conventional piano black trim that is in most BMWs. To complete the visual interior changes are embossed headrests and custom door sills.
