BMW iDrive Apps
There are four new apps that came out during the New York Auto Show for the iDrive with optional 6nR for BMW. The first app is Audible which is the biggest producer and seller of digital audio books in the world. They are the exclusive provider of audio books in the Apple iTunes store. A wonderful feature of Audible is that the cloud tracks where the reader leaves off in an e-reader and can automatically pick up where they left off. This feature goes both ways; i.e. the cloud knows where the listener left off on Audible and can be picked back up on the e-reader. How neat!
Another new app is Rhapsody which is a subscription based music program. Currently, there are over a million members and 16 million tracks available. The user is able to search for a particular song, album or artist. Also, the user can generate a radio station by creating a personalized playlist.
The third new app is Glympse which is a location-based sharing service. This is a great feature for those who hate being late. Your friends and family are able to check your status and location as well.
The last new app is Tunein which lets the user listen to podcasts worldwide. This app is currently a part of the BMWConnected app. The app links similar stations that the user might be interested in.
The new navigation system, iDrive 4.2, came out in the 7 Series and 5 Series. The latest edition of iDrive is currently available in the 2013 X1 and the also in the active hybrid 3.
