2015 BMW M4 Convertible Offers Disappearing Roof
While fans of the previous-generation BMW M3 convertible were a rare breed, the car sold well in the marketplace. It served as the car for those who eschewed performance for the feeling of the wind in their hair. It was a car that looked just as good as it performed.
For 2015, the BMW M3 convertible is no more–instead replaced by the M4 convertible. The 2015 M4 convertible is mechanically identical to the 2015 BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe, replacing the fixed roof with an attractive folding hardtop.
Breaking cover at this year’s New York Auto Show, the 2015 BMW M4 convertible arrives just in time to tease enthusiasts for the summer cruising season. The M4 convertible is expected to hit showroom floors sometime this summer, so start saving.
Slipped underneath the hood is BMW’s smooth and powerful inline-six engine. Power is added in the form of two turbochargers producing a potent 425 horsepower and 408 lb-ft of torque.
A 0-to-60 run comes in at just 4.4 seconds with the manual gearbox, but can be lowered to a heart racing 4.2 seconds with the seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The engine revs to a 7600-rpm redline and top speed is limited to 155 mph–the same as the M4 coupe.
The main attraction of the M4 convertible is the folding hardtop, which disappears in just 20 seconds and can be operated up to a speed of 11 mph. The M4 convertible weighs in at 4055 pounds, 525 pounds more than the M4 coupe.
While the 2015 BMW M4 convertible signals the last variant of the M3/M4 lineup going forward, it will sit quite comfortably in the vacant parking spot left by the previous M3 convertible. The BMW M4 convertible is set to sell well. When someone is looking for style and class, an M4 fits the bill being a luxurious, elegant and aggressive vehicle without overwrought design features like huge wings and comical exhaust pipes.
While pricing is still a mystery, expect it to start just above $70,000. There will be plenty of options on the table as well, which will kick up the price tag. To place your order today or learn more, visit Bill Jacobs BMW in Naperville, IL.
